Thanks to their sturdy construction and air circulation, these pit-type furnaces are well-suited for professional heat treatments requiring precise temperature uniformity. They are capable of performing production processes such as tempering, solution annealing, artificial aging, and soft annealing.
Our pit furnaces are engineered and produced to accommodate workpieces ranging from very small to very large sizes. Available with or without retorts, these furnaces come in customized dimensions and configurations to support the entire heat-treatment process.
Pit furnaces are utilized in diverse applications, including the gas carburizing and nitriding of gears for wind power generation and bearings used in the railway industry.

Pit-type sealed retort furnaces feature a vertically oriented cylindrical design with a secure sealing mechanism at the top to maintain heat and atmospheric conditions throughout the process cycle. The workpiece or charge is placed inside the retort, which serves as the furnace chamber, and is heated externally using electric heating elements.
Such pit furnaces are employed in general engineering and metallurgical processes including carburizing, nitriding, carbonitriding, nitrocarburizing, hardening, tempering, and annealing. They are also utilized in process industries such as coal tar processing and the extraction of titanium and magnesium from ores.
Specialized processes like aluminum and titanium heat treatment can also be performed. In process industries, these lab pit type furnaces are suitable for high-pressure applications with temperatures between 800°C and 1200°C and pressures ranging from 400 mm water column to 9 bar. They are frequently installed in pits to optimize space utilization and facilitate easy loading and unloading of charges.
These are designed for operation within controlled atmospheres, featuring inlets to facilitate the diffusion and distribution of cracked ammonia, hydrogen, LPG, methanol, argon, nitrogen, and other process gases.
Facerom also designs and installs fully automated process plants, enabling automated management of temperature control, fluid dissociation, gas penetration, and dosing.
The Facerom Pit Type Furnace is a high-efficiency batch furnace equipped with a robust recirculation fan and carefully designed internal baffling to achieve superior temperature uniformity. Engineered for precision and flexibility, it is well-suited for various heat treatment applications, including:
And additional processes that demand tightly regulated atmospheric conditions throughout heating and quenching.
Atmosphere Control: Nitrogen-shielded atmosphere ensures consistent quality and reduces oxidation.
Application: Ideal for wire rod annealing and a wide range of other industrial heat treatment processes.
