Semiconductor

A semiconductor is a material with electrical conductivity that lies between that of a conductor and an insulator at room temperature, and it possesses controllable conductivity. In everyday use, the term semiconductor typically refers to materials employed in integrated circuits, consumer electronics, communication systems, photovoltaic energy production, lighting solutions, high-power conversion, and various other applications.

Semiconductor materials serve as a crucial component in the upstream segment of the semiconductor industry, significantly influencing chip production and manufacturing. Based on the stages of chip fabrication, these materials are categorized into substrate materials, fabrication materials, and packaging materials. Substrate materials primarily involve the production of silicon wafers or compound semiconductors; fabrication materials consist of various substances needed to transform these wafers or semiconductors into functional chips; packaging materials are utilized during the chip cutting and packaging processes.
